THE SUN IS OUT!!! (1/24)
I (Roxanne) got a very good picture of my two motivating factors for the day, caffeine and sunshine. I also really like this purple plant although I do not know what it is called.
Today in math class we learned about the Legendre symbol: (p/q) and (q/p) and how they relate. It is amazing how much information we were able to receive and retain despite the outstanding amount of chalk Adam ingested during the lecture.
Before our afternoon lesson we required some fuel, so a group of Oles headed to a nearby kebab shop where we bought and then inhaled some delicious sandwiches and wraps. In general, we consider kebabs to be a top-tier food here in Budapest, so we were all very happy with our lunch. Afterward, we fought through food comas for the second math lesson of the day, where we worked with Euler's Criterion (Euler has become a constant presence in our class) and learned about the Quadratic Reciprocity Law.
After surviving two math classes, some of us headed over to Scruton Cafe to try some cakes and coffee. Noah expressed his jealously at Emily's Pokemon collection while everyone enjoyed their treats. Natalie had a blueberry Don Giovanni with a latte while Emily N had a dark chocolate mousse dessert with cherry filling. Although we liked the food at Scruton Cafe, we liked the coffee and the atmosphere at the Altair Teahaz (another nearby cafe) more.
In the evening after dinner, a couple of us headed out to grab some chimney cakes. We all agreed that this is one of the foods we will miss most when we leave-- especially the cinnamon ones. After we finished our delectable treats, we hurried across Pest to our riverboat cruise, which took us down the Danube River. We all had a wonderful time looking at the gorgeous city, even though it was a bit cold on the top deck.
